He is possibly the son of Ole W. Hanssen and Karen T. Kristiansdatter. In the census for 1865 Ole and Karen owned and farmed the Skipperud østre farm in Skiptvedt. They were from Rakkestad. Their son, Hans, was the only 11 (or 12) year old with his name in the 1865 census for Skiptvedt. 3


Hans married Karoline Arnesen Tveter, daughter of Arne Olsen and Anne Johannesdatter. (Karoline Arnesen Tveter was born in 1855 in Skiptvet, Østfold, Norway 2.)


  Marriage Notes:

In the census of 1900 they owned and farmed the Skallerud farm in Skiptvet. They had 5 daughters and a son with them.

Also on the farm were:
Anne Syvers., Tjenestepige [servant maid], 1882, Spydeberg Sm;
Arne Ols., enkemann, Logerende [widower, lodger], 1826, Skiptvet. 2
