Karl married Elen Sofie Garseg, daughter of Kristen Torersen Garseg and Johanne Laurentse Arnesdatter Mysen. (Elen Sofie Garseg was born on 27 May 1861 in Eidsberg, Østfold, Norway and died in 1944.)

In the census for 1900 the family lived at Eilert Sundts Gade 55 in Kristiania. Ellen's father was visiting from Eidsberg during the census and her unmarried sister, Anna Marie, was also visiting from Gimleveien 21, Kristiania. ³
