  General Notes:

Helene came from the Nord-Halstvet farm in Eidsberg.

In 1854 Helene bought the nordre Eiebakke farm in Askim for 1759 spdl. from Mattias Rolf Iversen Kolstad. In 1864 she sold that farm for 2000 spdl to Hans Jakob Hansen. That same year she and her son Hans Thorvald lived on the søndre Torp farm.

As a widow in 1865 Helene bought the søndre Enger farm in Askim. Two of her sons and a son-in-law farmed there for some years. By 1875 she had sold that farm for 4000 kr to Sven Andersen.

In 1891 Maren lived on the vestre Børregården farm in Askim. Her son Hans Thorvald had bought the farm in 1879 but he was dead by 1891.

  Research Notes:

In 1865 she was 56 years old, widowed, and owned a part (121c) of the Enger farm in Askim. She was living there with her son, two daughters and granddaughter: Hans Vilhelmsen (17), Inger Vilhelmsdatter (14), Thore M. Hansdatter (24 and married), and Johanne Juliansdatter (1).

Helene married Hans Torsen Halstvet. (Hans Torsen Halstvet was born in 1811 and died in 1847.)

Helene next married Vilhelm Fredriksen Halstvet, son of Frederik Villumsen Halstvet and Unknown, on 28 Dec 1848 in Eidsberg, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Vilhelm Fredriksen Halstvet was born in 1814 and died in 1853.)

  Marriage Notes:

When they married Villum was 35 and Helene was 37 years old. His father was recorded as Frederik Villumsen Halstvet. Her father was recorded as Halvor Olsen Grini. ¹
