   Other names for Hans were Hans Fridriksen and Hans T Frydenlund.

  General Notes:

Hans moved to the Hoffstegen farm in Askim and farmed it until about 1870, when he moved to the Nybråtan farm (under Prestegården).

In about 1875 Hans and Karen moved from Nybråtan to Frydenlund u. Kvakkestad.

At about the end of the 1880's he moved to Frydenlund u. Hov. The family was living there in 1891.

Hans married Karen Olsdatter, daughter of Ole Kristiansen and Johanne Svensdatter Gram, on 21 Sep 1852 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Karen Olsdatter was born on 1 Aug 1825 in Massengplass, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was christened on 7 Aug 1825 in Askim church, Askim, Østfold, Norway.)

When they married Hans was 23½ years old and Karen was 27.

In January 1853 when their daughter Johanne Fridrikka was christened they were called Hans Fridriksen og Karen Olsdr Hoffstegen.

In 1865 they were cottagers with land on the Hoffstegen farm in Askim. They had their four surviving children and Hans' 75 year old widowed mother with them.

In the census for 1900 they lived on Frydenlund in Askim. Hans was then a watchman at a woodworking factory [Vagtmand ved trævarefabrik]. ^{1 5 6}
