  General Notes:

In the census for 1865 he was 7 years old and living with his parents and siblings on the Jakobshaugen farm in Skiptvet.

In 1900 Hans Kristian Jensen bought the østre Auten farm in Askim for 8500 kr. The farm was sold to his brother, Ole Jensen Lind, in 1906 for 9000 kr, but Hans Kristian continued to use most of the farm.

In 1920 Hans Kristian again got the deed to the farm from his brother for 6000 kr. He farmed Auten until 1934 when he sold it to Mathis Finstad for 23 000 kr.

• He was a carpenter [tømmermann] in 1889 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.

• He was a farmer, farm owner and carpenter [Jordbruger s, snedker] in 1900 in Auten, Askim, Østfold, Norway. ⁶

Hans married Josefine Torkelsdatter Moseby, daughter of Torkild Villumsen and Anne Sofie Olsdatter, on 16 May 1889 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Josefine Torkelsdatter Moseby was born on 9 Jan 1867 in Moseby, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 3 Feb 1867 in Askim, Østfold, Norway and died in 1963.)

  Marriage Notes:

In 1900 Hans and Josefine owned and farmed the Auten (gnr 57, bnr 1) farm in Askim. They had their oldest 5 children with them and Hans' brother, A.I. Kjos (born 1864, Skiptvet), and his sister Mathea (born 1866, Skiptvet), both unmarried.

They were living on Auten in October 1912 and in October 1916. ^{5 6}
