Emil moved to Kristiania in 1894. He appears to have moved back to Askim in late 1900 with his wife and newly born daughter.

His year of birth is also recorded as 1871 but his birth record shows 1872.

• He was a wagoner with a pulpmill [Kjører ved Træsliberiet] in 1900 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.

Emil married Josefine Amalie Petersen. (Josefine Amalie Petersen was born in 1877 in Bjarkø, Troms, Norway.)

  Marriage Notes:

In the census for 1900 they were living with Emil's parents and siblings on the Kvakkestad (bnr. 2) farm in Askim.

They were living on Lian in March 1909 and in April 1913.

They were living on Kvakkestad in October 1915. ^{2 4}
