Another name for Johan was Skjolden. General Notes: Johan first married Anne Dortea Kristoffersdatter, the widow of Halvor Hansen who owned the western portion of the Nord-Skjolden farm in Askim. In 1869 Johan bought the eastern portion of Nord-Skjolden. Johan was a blacksmith and had a forge on the farm. He farmed the entire farm until 1880, when he moved to the søndre Rom farm. Research Notes: In the census for 1865 Johan appears to be in Christiania. He was 17 years old and an apprentice wheelwright for Christen Christensen Kaalstad at Grønlandsleret. 4 Johan married Anne Dorthea Christopherdatter Holter, daughter of Christopher Olsen Holter and Tollena Henriksdatter Solberg, on 22 Apr 1869 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Anne Dorthea Christopherdatter Holter was born on 19 Mar 1825 in Nedre Holter, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 31 Mar 1825 in Askim church, Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 26 Jun 1875 in Nord-Skjolden, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 3 Jul 1875.) Johan next married Emma Franciska Andreasdatter Skjolden, daughter of Andreas Syversen and Emilie Syversen, after 1875. (Emma Franciska Andreasdatter Skjolden was born in 1859 in Christiania, Norway and died in 1955.) Marriage Notes: In 1884 Johan Pedersen and his whole family moved to the USA and sold his søndre Rom (bnr.1) farm in Askim to Karl Andersen from Boslet. |
