Cause of his death was galloping tuberculosis [gallopperende Tæring]. Another name for Simon was Tømbt. General Notes: Simon took over half of the Tømt farm in Askim in January 1790 after his sister Anne and her husband. He sold it in January 1802 for 1200 rdl. He and his family then lived on Tømthytten. Medical Notes: He was recorded as 44 years old when he died. This would make his year of birth ca 1765. Simon married Marthe Hansdatter Børud in 1791 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Marthe Hansdatter Børud was born circa 1755.) Marriage Notes: In the census for 1801 they lived on and farmed the Askerud farm in Trøgstad. They were both in their first marriage. They had their children Søren and Maria with them. Also on the farm there were two servants and two other families of cottagers. 3 |
