Syver farmed the Moseby farm in Askim from the beginning of the 1850's until 1862. In 1861 he sold a third of the farm, and in 1862 he sold the rest to his brother Torkel.

He moved to the Brennopp farm under Hoie in Eidsberg.

In the census for 1865 Syver was a widow, 44 years old, and owned and farmed the Høie søndre, Brændop farm in Eidsberg. He had six unmarried children with him: Anton, Caroline Mathea, Johan Peter, Carl Sigvardt, Jens Peter, and Inger Maria.


Syver married Anne Maria Paulsdatter Kvakkestad, daughter of Paul Pedersen Kvakkestad and Anne Kristine Syversdatter, on 14 Oct 1845 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Anne Maria Paulsdatter Kvakkestad was born on 6 Mar 1821 in Kvakkestad, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 11 Mar 1821 in Askim, Østfold, Norway and died before 1866.)
