Anders farmed the bruk nr. 2 of the nordre Auten farm in Askim from 1789 until he died in 1801.

Anders married Anne Hansdatter, daughter of Hans Amundsen and Ragnhild Nilsdatter Olberg, on 13 Feb 1777 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Anne Hansdatter was born in 1757 in Auten, Askim, Østfold, Norway, died in 1803 in Auten, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 23 Dec 1803 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)

When they married they were recorded as Anders Larsøn Houger og Anne Hansdatter Outten.

In 1801 they were on the Auten farm in Askim with their son Lars, both in their first marriage. Anders was 59, Anne was 44, and Lars was 18 years old. Anders' 55 year old married sister Marthe was with them. ^{1 2}
