General Notes: In the census for 1865 Thorvald was unmarried and living with his grandfather Iver Knudsen and family on the Ringstad farm in Trøgstad. 3 Noted events in his life were: • He was a farmer [Gårdbruker] in Aaser, Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway. Thorvald married Sofie Johansdatter Strønes, daughter of Johan Thorersen Strønæs and Marthe Jakobsdatter, in 1870. (Sofie Johansdatter Strønes was born on 16 Feb 1845 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway,2 died on 12 Feb 1929 and was buried in Trøgstad church, Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway.) Marriage Notes: In the census for 1900 they owned and farmed the Aaser (Gnr 41, Bnr 1) farm in Trøgstad. They had all their surviving children at the time except Petter with them, all unmarried. There was also a fosterdaughter, Marie Ask, born in Kristiania in 1889 (Forsørges af Kr.a. fatigv.). 2 |
