In the census for 1865 Martinius was 26 years old and living with his parents and siblings on the Østegaarden farm in Høland, Akershus.

In 1895 Martinius bought the nedre Oraug farm in Askim. He had previously operated a stage-house [skyssstasjon] on Grepperud in Høland and had gone to the Oraug farm in 1886.

Martinius married Maren Berthea Andreasdatter, daughter of Unknown and Marte Andersdatter. (Maren Berthea Andreasdatter was born in 1846 in Eikeheia, Høland, Akershus, Norway, died on 12 Mar 1916 in Østgaard av Løken, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 22 Mar 1916 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.) The cause of her death was kidney disease [nyresykdom].

  Marriage Notes:

In the census for 1900 they owned and farmed the Oraug (bnr. 2) farm in Askim. They had a son and four daughters with them, all unmarried: Albert, Alide, Selma, Ovidia, and Magda. There were also four farmhands living on the farm. ⁴
