General Notes:
Mathis inherited a part of the Husengen farm in Askim after his father died. On 08 August 1834 he bought another part, which was called Huset, bnr 4, from his mother. He turned the Huset farm over to his son Ole 33 years later.
He may also have had a son named Samuel Mathiesen.
Medical Notes:
He was 75 years old when he died.
Mathis married Olia Thorersdatter. (Olia Thorersdatter was born circa 1806 in Varteig, Østfold, Norway.)
Marriage Notes:
In the census for 1865 Mathis and Olia owned and farmed the Huset (63a) farm in Askim. He was 72 years old and she was 60. They had three unmarried children living with them: Inger, Ole, and Andreas. 4
