Another name for Hans was Hans Torchildsen Enger.
General Notes:
Hans took over del 1 of the Enger farm in Askim after his father drowned in 1792. He farmed it until 1797 when he sold the farm to Ole Eriksen for 450 rdl.
The family later lived on Skjoldenbråtan and then on one of the Oraug farms, probably Elvestad. In about 1810 the family moved to Svae in Skiptvet.
Hans married Kari Mattiasdatter Stenbøl, daughter of Mattias Andersen Stenbøl and Margrete Halvorsdatter Stenbøl, on 31 Oct 1793 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Kari Mattiasdatter Stenbøl was born in 1771.)
Marriage Notes:
In 1801 they were cottagers on the Sør-Skjolden farm. Hans was 31 and Kari was 26 years old, both in their first marriage. They had their two children, Thore (7) and Niels (2) with them. 4
