Henrik married Eli Torsdatter, daughter of Tor Mattiassen and Kristense Tomasdatter Måsan, on 30 Dec 1799 in Enger, Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Eli Torsdatter was born in 1777 in Moseby, Askim, Østfold, Norway and died in 1817-1818.)


  Marriage Notes:

Henrik and Eli lived on the Knebrett farm in Askim in 1804 to 1808. Only their two daughters, Maria and Johanne, are mentioned at that time. They also lived on Kastdalen and Grøttvetgrinda.

In 1812 they lived on Skjørtenhytta and had a son, Kristian.

In about 1815 Henrik and Eli were cottagers on the Årnes farm in Askim. That year their daughter Anne was born and their son Hans was confirmed.

Henrik and Eli were cottagers on the Kastdalen farm in Askim in 1817 when they had a son, Elias. Eli died shortly after.

Henrik had a child with Anikken Olsdatter. (Anikken Olsdatter was born circa 1783, died on 7 Nov 1856 in Netthaug, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 14 Nov 1856.)


  Marriage Notes:

In 1820 widower Henrik Hansen had a daughter Johanne with widow Anikken Olsdatter. At that time they were recorded as Hendrich Hansen Enger og Annekken Olsdatter Maasebye Ødegaarden. Johanne was later married with Kristen Olsen Kjellås/Myra. 2

Henrik next married Kirsti Kristiansdatter Smedby on 17 Nov 1820 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.2 (Kirsti Kristiansdatter Smedby was born circa 1780.)


  Marriage Notes:

Henrik's first wife, Eli, died shortly after giving birth to their son Elias in 1817. In 1818 Henrik and Kirsti Kristiansdatter Smedby had twin daughters Maria and Ellen.

Henrik was 38 years old and Kirsti was 40 years old when they married in 1820.
In 1821 they were recorded as Henrich Hansen og Kirsti Christiansdatter Grødtvedt. In 1830 they were recorded as Hendrich Hansen Grødtvedt Mellem og Kjersti Christiansdatter. 2
