Gulbrand was from Skjelle in Skiptvedt and became married to the family on Krogh in Hobøl. "Han var efter sagnet en hardhaus til mann. Engang hadde noe satt sig fast i spiserøret ans og for å fjerne det, viklet han strye om en tynn kvist, stakk den ned gjennem spiserøret og fikk dyttet gjenstanden ned."

Gulbrand married Tore Marie Hansdatter Krogh. (Tore Marie Hansdatter Krogh was born circa 1775.)

In the census for 1801 they lived on and farmed the Krog Østre farm in Hobøl. They were both in their first marriage and had two daughters and two sons with them. ²
