General Notes: In 1344 Magnus' elder son Erik was elected heir to the Swedish throne, one year after his younger brother Haakon received the crown of Norway. Erik made common cause with the nobility and his uncle, Albert of Mecklenburg, against his father; and in 1356 Magnus was forced to share the kingdom with his son, who received Finland and Götaland. Two years later Erik died, and the kingdom was again united under Magnus' rule. Noted events in his life were: • He was employed. Duke of Mecklenburg Albert married Euphemia Eriksdottir, daughter of Erik Magnusson and Ingebjørg Håkonsdatter, on 10 Apr 1336 in Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.1 (Euphemia Eriksdottir was born in 1317 and died in 1370.) |
