   Other names for Syprian were Syprian Brynhildsen Årstad and Syprian Brynilsen.

  General Notes:

Syprian was from the Årstad farm in Trøgstad. In 1839 Syprian exchanged farms with Paul Pedersen and so acquired the Tovengen farm in Askim.

Two years after Syprian died, Tovengen was divided in two between his widow, Berte, and his son Hans.

  Research Notes:

The Gårdshistorie shows his year of birth as 1782 but the census for 1801 shows him as 10 years old. His year of birth was probably 1792 considering that the census also shows an older sister at 20 years of age, born ca 1782. 4

  Medical Notes:

He was recorded as 64 years old when he died.


Syprian married Maria Gundersdatter Sentvedt on 29 Feb 1816 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway.1 (Maria Gundersdatter Sentvedt was born circa 1790 and died before 1821.)


  Marriage Notes:

When they married Syprian Brynildsen Aarstad was 25 years old and Maria Gundersdatter Sentvedt was 26. The best men at their marriage were Christian Aarstad and Hans Sentvedt. 1

Syprian next married Berte Mattisdatter, daughter of Mattis Larsen and Ingebor Andersdatter. (Berte Mattisdatter was born in 1793 in Evenby, Båstad, Trøgstad, Norway, died on 25 Jan 1881 in Tovengen, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 4 Feb 1881.)
