In 1876 Johan Hansen Auten bought the Hobøl Nordre farm in Askim, and in 1892 he bought Hobøl Søndre.

He was living at Bjerkerud when he died.

They were living on the Hobbel farm in Askim when their daughter Maria was born in March 1887.
