In the census for 1865 Marie was 73 years old, widowed, and living with her daughter Bolethe's family on the Sundet farm in Spydeberg. A note beside her says that she was supported by the poor fund [understøttes af Fattigcassen].

Maria had a child with Villem Aslaksen Gurud, son of Aslak Syversen Buskilsrud and Anikken Fredrikke Henriksdatter Smith. (Villem Aslaksen Gurud was born on 8 Apr 1793 in Buskildsrud, Eidsberg, Østfold, Norway, died on 10 Feb 1872 in Rom søndre, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 21 Feb 1872.)

Maria next married Ole Hansen Østby, son of Hans Jørgensen Østby and Sissel Fransdatter Skjolden, in 1830 in Askim church, Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Ole Hansen Østby was born in 1799 in Østby, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was christened in 1799 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)
