For a while he previously farmed his father-in-law's farm, ytre Torp. Research Notes: His year of birth is also recorded as 1827. Halvor married Helene Torersdatter, daughter of Torer Larsen Dallerud and Johanne Halvorsdatter, on 16 Nov 1858 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Helene Torersdatter was born on 8 Apr 1834 in Gurud, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 20 Apr 1834 in Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 14 Sep 1868 in Hon, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 25 Sep 1868.) Marriage Notes: When they married Halvor was 32 years old and Helene was 27. He was on the Moen farm in Askim, previously from the Halstvedt farm. She was on the Thorp ytre farm in Askim, previously from the Gurud farm. The best men at their marriage were Johan Moen and Gunder Halstvedt. Halvor next married Andrine Mattisdatter, daughter of Matis Olsen and Unknown, on 12 Mar 1870 in Askim church, Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Andrine Mattisdatter was born on 23 Feb 1848 in Rakkestad, Østfold, Norway.) Marriage Notes: In the census for 1900 Halvor and Andrine owned and farmed the Trosvik farm in Skiptvet. They had five children with them: Gunda, Anders, Anna, Johannes, and Helga Agnes.
