Christen was born to the Frøhol farm in Askim.

He was 31½ years old when he married. He then moved to the Erengen farm and had no more to do with the Frøhol farm.


Kristen married Birgitte Hansdatter Erengen, daughter of Hans Olsen Erengen and Berthe Helene Jensdatter, on 5 Jan 1850 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Birgitte Hansdatter Erengen was born circa 1825.)


  Marriage Notes:

When they married, Christen Halvorsen was from the Frøhoel farm. He was 31½ years old and his father was recorded as Halvor Knudsen. Anne Birgithe Hansdatter was from the Erengen farm. She was 24 years old. Her father was recorded as Hans Olsen.

The best men at their marriage were Christen Ruud and Ole Grøtvedt.

When their son Carl Rikard was christened in August 1852 they were called Christen Halvorsen og Birgitte Hansdr Kastdalen. 1
