Simen Andersen Hoel ^{1 2}

   Cause of his death was suicide [selvmord].

  General Notes:

In 1865 he was 18 years old, unmarried, and helping his widowed mother on the Hoel store farm in Askim.

Simen took over the Hoel farm in Askim in 1868. He got the deed to the Store Hoel farm on 20 September 1888 for 18 000 kr.

He was chairman (?) [ordfører] in Askim 1898-1905.

He was living on Hoel in Askim in 1905 but he died in Christiania.

Simen married Augusta Larsdatter, daughter of Lars Gundersen Bredeg and Marie Aslaksdatter Jensæg, in 1871. (Augusta Larsdatter was born on 11 Apr 1851 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway, christened on 25 May 1851 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway and died in 1936.)

  Marriage Notes:

In the census for 1900 they owned and farmed the Hoel (bnr. 1) farm in Askim. All their surviving children were listed with them except Johanne and Julie. Simen's brother Niels was also living there. ³
