Niels Holmsen Haraldstad ^{1 2 3}

   Other names for Niels were Nils Holmsen and Schuleberg.

  General Notes:

Niels was from Spydeberg. He belongs to the well known Holmsen family in Enebakk, that had been connected with Skulberg since the 1600's, when Johanne Mathiasdatter Skulberg married the rural mayor (?) [bygdelensmann] Hans Holmsen from Børter in Enebakk.

Niels bought the Store Hoel farm in Askim in about 1802.

On 15 July 1839 Niels bought the Torp Lille farm in Askim for 700 Speciedaler. On 02 September 1847 he sold the farm and the Haraldstad farm to his son Henrik Nielsen for a total of 3520 Speciedaler.

  Research Notes:

Niels was 13 years old in the census for 1801 and lived on the Skuleberg farm in Spydeberg with his parents and siblings. ⁵

Niels married Anne Aslaksdatter Eidareng, daughter of Aslak Kristensen Eidareng and Maria Olsdatter, on 17 Aug 1809 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Anne Aslaksdatter Eidareng was born circa 1789 and died in 1842.)

In November 1820 when their daughter Anne Maria was baptised they were recorded as Nils Holmsen og Anne Aslachsdatter Haraldstad. ⁶

Niels next married Johanne Andrea Hansdatter on 2 Apr 1844. (Johanne Andrea Hansdatter was born circa 1790.)
