General Notes:
Lars took over the nordre Ilen bnr. 1 farm after his mother in 1900 for 8500 kr. In 1921 he bought the søndre Ilen bnr. 1 farm for 57 000 kr. He worked the two farms together until 1931, when the søndre Ilen farm was sold.
Research Notes:
He was 8 years old in the 1865 census.
The census for 1900 lists his year of birth as 1852. This is very probably incorrect. He was unmarried and owned and farmed the Ihlen nordre (bnr. 1) farm in Askim. His mother and step-father were living with him.
Noted events in his life were:
• He was confirmed on 5 Oct 1873 in Askim church, Askim, Østfold, Norway. He was from the Ilen farm.
Lars married Amalie Kristiansdatter Vølen, daughter of Kristian Nikolaisen and Unknown, on 8 Dec 1901 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Amalie Kristiansdatter Vølen was born on 28 Feb 1881 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway and died in 1942.)
Marriage Notes:
They were living on Ihlen in Askim in October 1915 and in May 1917. 9
