Marthe married Ingemund Thorersen, son of Thorer Olsen Kiersæg and Christine Halvorsdatter, on 19 Jan 1818 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Ingemund Thorersen was born circa 1798 and died in 1831.)

Marthe was 26 and Ingemund was 22 years old when they married. They had 4 children, 2 sons both named Christian, and daughters Karen and Maria.
