In the census for 1865 Hans P. was 20 years old and living with his widowed father and brothers on the Bjørnestad nordre (288b) farm in Eidsberg.

Hans P. Andersen Bjørnstad bought the Kokstad u. Slengebråte farm in Askim for 14 000 kr. The deed was registerd on 16 October 1871. He sold it for the same price on 28 December 1923.

In February 1905 he bought the Bukkås and Lier Søndre Nordre farms in Askim for 10 000 kr. He sold them to his son Karl in 1911 for 7000 kr.

In the census for 1865 Hans P. Andersen was 20 years old and living with his brothers and widowed father on his father's farm, Bjørnestad nordre, in Eidsberg.

When he died it was recorded that he was born on Bjørnestad.

Hans married Karen Mathisdatter, daughter of Mathis Clemetsen Kokstad and Marthe Olsdatter, on 29 Dec 1871 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Karen Mathisdatter was born on 3 Mar 1844 in Kokstad, Slengebråte, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was christened on 24 Mar 1844 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)

  Marriage Notes:

In the census for 1900 they owned and farmed the Kogstad farm in Askim. They had two children with them, Anna and Karl. Han Peter was also listed as a finishing carpenter [snedker]. ⁵
