In the census for 1865 he was 28 years old, unmarried, and living with his widowed mother and siblings on the Kongerud farm in Trøgstad. He helped to run the farm for his mother.

He was a widower living on the Kongerud farm when he died in June 1917.

Adolf married Elen Larsen. (Elen Larsen was born in 1848 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway, died on 17 Jan 1910 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 26 Jan 1910 in Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway.)

In 1900 Adolf and Elen owned and farmed the Kongerud store farm in Trøgstad. They had 4 daughters with them at that time: Karoline, Mina, Lauvra, and Marie.

The census notes that Anna's usual residence is Kongerud, Trøgstad. She was probably visiting her brother Petter and his family at the time of the census. Her sister Martha seems to have been living there. ^{2 5}
