He was 30 years old when his father died in 1834 and Niels took over half of the Gudim Nedre, bnr. 4, farm in Askim.

  Medical Notes:

The Bygdebok records that he was buried on 15 November but the church record shows that he died on 27 September and was buried on 05 October 1866.

Niels married Berthe Maria Christiansdatter Skjolden in 1830. (Berthe Maria Christiansdatter Skjolden was born circa 1790, died on 7 Jun 1856 in Gudim Nedre, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 13 Jun 1856.)
