The census for 1900 lists his year of birth as 1843. It was recorded as 1844 when his son Hilmar was baptised in 1880.

... There was a Konstance Hansdatter that was probably their daughter. She was born on Solbergbraaten in Askim on 02 May 1875, baptised on 06 June 1875, and confirmed on 06 Oct 1889.
