In the beginning of the 1890's Thorvald J. Løkke lived on the Haugerud farm in Askim before he moved to Karlsrud and later to Løkke. His son Aksel was born at Haugerud in 1892.

Thorvald Martin Johannesen lived on the Karlsrud farm in Askim during the 1890's with his wife and children.

He got the deed to the Løkke farm in Askim for 638 kr (tgl. 3/10-1901). He had built a house on Løkke already in 1896.

Thorvald married Anne Johnsen, daughter of John Hansen and Guri Nielsdatter, on 30 Oct 1891 in Askim church, Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Anne Johnsen was born on 17 May 1865 in Gudbrandsdalen, Oppland, Norway, died on 9 Jul 1945 and was buried in Askim new churchyard, Askim, Østfold, Norway.)

In the census for 1900 the family lived on the Løkke (gnr.90, bnr.20) farm in Askim. There were also four canal workers living there.
