Maren married Ole Hansen Salseng, son of Hans Olsen Salseng and Helene Jensdatter Kastdalen, on 19 Apr 1856 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Ole Hansen Salseng was born on 6 Apr 1833 in øvre Salseng, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 14 Apr 1833 in Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 7 Jun 1902 in Vang, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 14 Jun 1902.)

When they married Ole was 23 years old and Maren was 26. He was from the Salseng farm in Askim and she was from the Svinhegle farm. The best men at their marriage were Poul Enger and Johannes Svinhegle.

In the 1865 census they owned and farmed the Magnildrud farm in Askim. Ole was 33 and Maren was 36 years old. They had their five surviving children with them: Hans Chr (10), Inger M (8), Anne H (5), Caroline (3), and Johan (1).

In December 1865, when their son Johan was baptised, they were called Ole Hansen og Maren Christiansdr Magnildrud.

In the census for 1900 they owned and farmed the Vang farm. Their daughter Andrine lived with them. She was unmarried and was a tailoress at that time. Also living on the farm with them were Mathis (Mattias) Hansen, his wife Anne Sofie, and their children. Mathis was a farmhand. ^{1 4 6}
