   Another name for Hans was Hans Mathisen.

  General Notes:

Hans worked the Blunkeslett farm after his father, and until 1779. In 1792 Hans Mattisen bought both the north and south parts of the Gjellestad farm in Askim for 2500 rdl. He sold the northern part and used the søndre Gjellestad farm until 1808, when he sold it too and took over the søndre Revaug farm for 1320 rdl. In 1830 he sold søndre Revaug to his son-in-law, Ole Jørgensen, for 721 spdl. Ole was the son of a previous owner of the farm, Jørgen Olsen.


Hans married Kari Fredriksdatter Skjolden, daughter of Fredrik Jensen and Anne Andersdatter, on 23 Jul 1778 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Kari Fredriksdatter Skjolden was born in 1757, died in 1803 in Gjellestad, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried in Nov 1803 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)


  Marriage Notes:

When they married they were recorded as Hans Mathisøn Blunkeslet og Kari Fridericsdatter Mellom Schiolden.

In the census for 1801 Hans Mathisen and Kari Friderichsdatter were both in their first marriage. He was 50 years old and she was 44. They were living on and farming the Gjellestad farm in Askim and had 6 children with them: Marthe (20 years old), Maria (15), Anne (13), Friderich (9), Magrethe (7), and Mathis (4). Kari's widowed stepfather was also living with them. 1 6

Hans next married Eli Idelsdatter on 5 Jan 1806 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.2 (Eli Idelsdatter was born circa 1758.)
