Cause of her death was pneumonia [lungebetennelse]. Other names for Sissel were Sedsel and Sessel. General Notes: Sissel was from the Kløfta, søndre Rom, farm. She lived with her children on the Gurudbråtan farm in Askim from the early 1870's through at least 1875. Research Notes: Her year of birth is also recorded as 1824, but her sister Karen was born in that year. Were they twins? When Sissel died her year of birth was recorded as 1824. Sissel married Petter Torersen Enger, son of Torer Fredriksen Enger and Helene Knutsdatter Vammeli, on 6 Feb 1849 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Petter Torersen Enger was born on 30 Mar 1823 in Enger, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 6 Apr 1823 in Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 27 Dec 1853 in Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 4 Jan 1854.) Marriage Notes: When they married Peter was 26 years old and Sissel was 23. He was from the Enger farm in Askim and she was from the Kløfta farm. Sissel next married Kristian Kristoffersen Nybråten, son of Christopher Eriksen and Unknown, on 14 Jun 1859 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Kristian Kristoffersen Nybråten was born in 1804 in Huseby, Eidsberg, Østfold, Norway, died on 17 Jul 1870 in Nybråten, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 23 Jul 1870.) Marriage Notes: In the 1865 census they were cottagers with land on the Nybroten farm in Askim. Christian was 60 and Sessel was 41 years old. With them they had her two children from her first marriage as well as their 7 year old daughter Caroline. 3 |
