Hans married Sofia Paulsdatter Torp, daughter of Paul Fransen Torp and Kirsti Pedersdatter. (Sofia Paulsdatter Torp was born on 19 Sep 1823 in Torp yttre, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 28 Sep 1823 in Askim church, Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 5 Feb 1886 in Rom Nordre, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 18 Feb 1886 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)

  Marriage Notes:

They were called Hans Pedersen and Sophia Poulsd n. Rom in January 1851 when their son Peter Niclolai was christened. They were on nordre Rom in October 1858 when their daughter Kirsti Maria was christened.

In the 1865 census they owned and farmed part (153b) of the Rom nordre farm in Askim. Hans was 45 and Sofie was 43 years old. They had their five surviving children with them as well as a fosterson, Martin Andreassen, 15 years old and born in Askim. Martin was the son of Johanne Pedersdatter Risengen who had recently died and was Hans' half-sister. ^{3 4}
