Petter married Caroline Maria Axelsdatter, daughter of Axel Thorersen and Anne Thomasdatter. (Caroline Maria Axelsdatter was born in 1841 in Hol, Eidsberg, Østfold, Norway, died on 15 Jan 1916 in Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 25 Jan 1916 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)

In the census for 1865 Petter and Karoline were tenant farmers [Leilænding] on the Hol farm in Eidsberg. He was 24 years old and she was 25. They had 2 children with them: Hans (3) and Thea (1).

In the census for 1900 they owned and farmed the Hoel (gnr. 63, bnr. 2) farm in Askim. With them were their daughter's daughter, Agnes Kristiansdatter (born 1887 in Eidsberg), and their son's daughter, Helga Arntsdatter (born 1898 in Kristiania).
