In 1801 Nils was 14 years old and a servant on the Løchen Søndre farm in Askim.

Nils took over the Kopperud farm after his father.

In 1865 Nils was 80 years old, a widow, and a tenant farmer [Leilænding] on Kopperud. Four of his children were with him, all unmarried: Hans (49), Johanne (43), Marte (41), and Ole (31 years old).

His record of death shows him to have been 79 years old.
