Mattis married Kirsti Halvorsdatter, daughter of Halvor Fransen Veiby and Anne Hansdatter, on 29 Nov 1838 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Kirsti Halvorsdatter was born in 1809, died on 12 Oct 1879 in Rustad, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 21 Oct 1879.)
