When they married in March 1854 Christen was 38 years old and Anne was 30. He was from the Hoff farm in Askim and his father was Hans Christiansen. She was from Drammen and her father was Christian Svendsen. The best men at their marriage were Johannes Fusk and Hans Larsen.
In 1865 they owned and farmed part of the Hoff farm in Askim. Christen was 51 and Anne was 42 years old. They had their two surviving children, Caroline (20) and Hans (13), as well as a fosterdaughter, Anne M. Carlsdatter (14) who was born in Askim. Anne was Christen's niece, the daughter of his brother Carl. Christen's parents were also there: Hans Christiansen was 85 and pensioned, and Christine Aslaksdatter was 74. 1 3
