He is possibly the same person as Hans Torsen, born on Høie in Eidsberg in 1813, died on Grønslet on 16 Feb 1887 as a widower, and buried 25 Feb. ⁴

Hans married Ellen Pedersdatter, daughter of Peder Klemmetsen Ilen and Maria Gøthesdatter. (Ellen Pedersdatter was born on 28 Jan 1818 in Skavoug, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 1 Feb 1818 in Askim, Østfold, Norway and died before Dec 1875.)

  Marriage Notes:

Hans and Ellen were cottagers on the England (u. Sekkelsten) farm in Askim from 1852 until 1856. In the late 1850's they were cottagers on the Askedal (u. Massengen) farm. In 1872 they moved to the Finnsrud u. Katralen farm.

In the 1865 census they were cottagers with land on the Eiebakke søndre del farm. Hans was 53 and Elen was 48 years old. At the time they had 3 sons and 2 daughters with them, all unmarried. ²
