In the 1865 census he was not with his parents and siblings on the Jahren farm in Askim.


Johan married Tore Hansen. (Tore Hansen was born in 1849 in Eidsberg, Østfold, Norway.)


  Marriage Notes:

In the census for 1900 Johan and Tore owned and farmed the Høntorp østre nedre farm in Trøgstad. At that time they had two sons with them, Sigvart and Karl. Sigvart was born in Eidsberg in 1873 and Karl was born in Trøgstad in 1882, suggesting that the family moved to Trøgstad between those dates. 2
