General Notes:
In the census for 1801 Christen Olsen was 13 years old and lived with his parents and brothers on the Skulerud farm in Eidsberg.
Kristen got the deed to the øvre Rud (bnr. 1) farm in Askim for 500 spdl. in 1828. In 1826 he bought the Bråtan farm for 300 spdl., and the two farms were farmed together until 1835 when Bråtan was sold.
In the census for 1865 he owned and farmed part (149a) of Rud øvre. He was 79 years old and widowed. He had his three surviving children with him, all unmarried. There was also a servant, 21 year old Julie Andersdatter (born in Askim).
Medical Notes:
In the 1865 census it noted that he was ill, "sindssvag".
Kristen married Johanne Jonsdatter Kråkerud, daughter of Jon Johannesen and Kari Amundsdatter. (Johanne Jonsdatter Kråkerud was born in 1802 in Måsaplassene u. Søndre Rud, Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 6 Mar 1855 in Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 15 Mar 1855.)
