   Another name for Frans was Frans Johnsen Oraug.

  General Notes:

Frans was from the Store-Rud farm in Askim. He was a cottager on the Vestby (under Oraug) farm and farmed it from the end of the 1790's until about 1813. Afterwards he and his family lived on the Veiby (under Moen) farm.

I 1796 ble Gutu solgt til Isak Eriksen (sønnesønn av Tor Torsen, nordre Lier), f. ca. 1761 d. 1839, for 1 199 rdl. Han brukte Gutu til 1801. Han solgte nå for samme sum til Gudmund Sjøllersen. Frans Jonsen på Vestby under Oraug, sønn av Jon Svensen på søndre Rud, reiste odelssak mot Gudmund Sjøllersen i 1807. Frans og Gudmund ble forlikte om at Gudmund skulle ryddiggjøre og fravike Gutu innen faaredag i 1808 mot en løsningssum på 1 200 rdl. Men Frans løste ikke inn Gutu, og Gudmund ble boende her til han døde i 1809. Frans Jonsen overtok søndre Rud i 1809.

Frans bought the søndre Rud farm in 1809 from his brother Sven's widow for 7200 rdl. He sold it back to her and her new husband shortly after for 7900 rdl.

• He was a finishing carpenter [snedker] in 1801 in Oraug, Askim, Østfold, Norway.

Frans had a child with Kirsti Kristoffersdatter Rom Søndre.

Frans next married Maria Kristensdatter Svinekle, daughter of Kristen Syversen and Margrete Olsdatter Svinekle, on 30 Mar 1797 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Maria Kristensdatter Svinekle was born in 1768 in Svinekle, Askim, Østfold, Norway and died in 1829 in Moen, Askim, Østfold, Norway.)

  Marriage Notes:

In 1801 they were cottagers on the Oraug farm in Askim. Frans was 28 and Maria was 34 years old, both in their first marriage. Their two children then were John (4 years old) and Marthe (1).
