  General Notes:

He was from Eidsberg. He belonged to a family that for many years lived on Gjølsjø in Øymark, at least from about 1700.

In 1871 Thor bought the Nordre Onstad farm in Askim for 3000 Spesiedlr.

In the census for 1900 Tor was a widower. He owned and farmed the Onstad (gnr.9, bnr.2) farm in Askim. He had four of his children with him: Anton, Kristian, Matea, and Amalie. Three were unmarried and Matea was a widow.

  Research Notes:

The 1865 census lists him as born in Eidsberg. The 1900 census lists him as born in Askim. His baptism record is found in the Eidsberg church records.


Thor married Johanne Skjørshammer. (Johanne Skjørshammer was born on 15 Dec 1822 in Eidsberg, Østfold, Norway, died on 20 Nov 1890 in Onstad, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 28 Nov 1890 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)


  Marriage Notes:

In the census for 1865 they were cottagers with land on the Barkerud farm in Eidsberg. Thor was 51 and Johanne was 44 years old. They had six daughters and three sons with them. 3
