General Notes: In 1801 Mathis was on the Onstad farm in Askim with his parents, who owned the farm, and his four siblings. He was 21 years old and a soldier. His future wife, Kirsti Christophersdatter, was also on the farm with her two children. 4 Medical Notes: Mathis Andersen Onstad døde den 9. september 1853, 73 år gammel. Actually, the Ministerialbok records his date of death as 02 Sep 1853 and his burial on 09 Sep. Mathis married Kirsti Christophersdatter on 14 Dec 1801 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Kirsti Christophersdatter was born in 1775, christened on 25 Mar 1775 in Askim, Østfold, Norway,5 died on 27 Mar 1834 in Onstad, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 8 Apr 1834 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.) Marriage Notes: Kirsti was a young widow from the other Onstad (det andre Onstad) when she married Mathis. Mathis took over both Onstad Nordre in Askim from Kirsti, and Onstad Søndre after his father. Mathis next married Ingeborg Pauline Andersdatter Tømt, daughter of Anders Halvorsen and Kirsti Olsdatter, on 13 Nov 1841. (Ingeborg Pauline Andersdatter Tømt was born on 14 Sep 1815 in Tømt, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 17 Sep 1815 in Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 5 May 1865 in Haugen, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 16 May 1865.) Marriage Notes: Mathis was 58 and Pauline 26 years old when they married. |
