When Lars Jakobsen died in 1897 his two sons divided the Torp Store farm in Askim between them. But in September 1919 Johannes sold his portion to his brother Hans for 32 000 kr.

  Research Notes:

In the census for 1900 Johannes was unmarried and living on part of the Store Torp farm in Askim which was co-owned by his sister Julie and his brother Thorvald. Johannes, Julie, Thorvald, their widowed mother, two fosterdaughters, and Kristian Sundet (born 1822, Askim) all lived on the farm. Their brother Hans and his family lived on the other part of Store Torp. ⁴
