  General Notes:

Martin was from the Haga (u. Gjellestad) farm in Askim.

Martin was confirmed in 1860 while his parents and their family lived on the Moenshytta farm in Askim.

In the census of 1865 he is shown as 20 years old, living with his parents on the Gjellestad farm, and was called a "Dagarbeider" (labourer).

Martin took over the Galtebutangen farm in Askim in about 1870 and lived there during the '70's. Martin and Maren moved from there about 1880 and took over the Buer farm in 1886 for 1760 kr. Later we find them on Høyendal, and on Skaug (under Sulerud) in Eidsberg.

In 1906 Martin bought the Høyendal farm from his brother-in-law, Johan Gundersen, for 10 000 kr.

Martin married Maren Regine Andersdatter, daughter of Anders Nilsen and Berte Elisabeth Olsdatter, on 1 Mar 1872 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Maren Regine Andersdatter was born on 23 Jan 1850 in Galtebu, Askim, Østfold, Norway.)
