Paul married Anne Kristiansdatter Svinekle, daughter of Kristian Olsen Svinekle and Karen Johanne Pedersdatter, on 5 Jan 1852 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.¹ (Anne Kristiansdatter Svinekle was born in 1822 in Askim, Østfold, Norway,⁵ died on 20 Jul 1905 in Brønn, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 28 Jul 1905.)

When they married Paul was 23 years old and from the Salseng farm in Askim. His father was Hans Olsen. Anne was 30 years old and from the Svinhegle farm. Her father was Christian Olsen.

In December 1858 they were on the Enger farm in Askim.

In 1865 the family owned and farmed the Brønn farm. Paul was 37 and Anna was 44 years old. Three of the four children at the time were there: Johanna (11), Hanna (8), and Karine (4). The eldest daughter, Karen, was at the Ilen søndre farm working as a nanny.

In the census for 1900 Paul and Anne were on the Brønden farm. He was "Fv flødningsarbeider" [Did he operate log rafts at 71 years of age?] At that time they had two canal workers living on the farm. ^{1 5 7}
