Erik married Maria Eriksdatter, daughter of Erik Hansen and Marte Hansdatter, on 18 Mar 1788 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Maria Eriksdatter was born in 1765 in Kastdalen, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened in 1765 in Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 1 Dec 1835 in Bakker, Askim, Østfold, Norway and was buried on 8 Dec 1835 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.)   Marriage Notes: Erik and Maria farmed the Hauger farm in Askim until the mid 1790's. Later they were on Flatmark and were cottagers on Knebret from about 1808 until 1815. In 1801 they were cottagers on Rud Søndre. He was 42 and she was 36 years old, both in their first marriage. They had four children with them: Ingebor (12), Marthe (7), Hans (4), and Thor (2). 6
