Her marriage record shows her birthdate as 17 Apr 1855 and that she was from Sundbyeplads in Trøgstad.

The census for 1900 lists her birthplace as Spydeberg.

The christening records for Spydeberg lists Josefine Amalie Torkildsdatter, born 17 May 1855, christened 17 June. Her parents were Torkild Amundsen and Johane Bergitte Johanesdr Sundbypl. In the 1865 census there is a Sundby farm in Spydeberg but there is not one listed in Trøgstad.

In the census for 1865 Josefine Amalia and her parents are found on the Vaal Plads Grønlien farm in Kraakstad, Akershus. She was 11 years old and born in Spydeberg. 7 8


Josefine married Johan Hansen Gillingsrud, son of Hans Andersen Massengen and Dorthea Larsdatter Nordre Løken, on 4 Apr 1876 in Askim, Østfold, Norway.1 (Johan Hansen Gillingsrud was born on 30 Mar 1846 in Løken Nordre, Askim, Østfold, Norway, christened on 9 Apr 1846 in Askim, Østfold, Norway, died on 26 Feb 1929 and was buried in Trøgstad church, Trøgstad, Østfold, Norway 5.)


  Marriage Notes:

In the census for 1900 they owned and farmed the Gillingsrud farm in Trøgstad. They had six children ... ! and one granddaughter [datter datter], Inga Gillingsrud born on 01 March 1900 in Trøgstad ! ... with them. Their sons Hans and Lars were not listed with them. Hans Gillingsrud was working on the Muggeby farm. Lars Johansen was an apprentice blacksmith on Moseby in Eidsberg. 8
